My art journey began with a fascination for cartoons and comic books, where I explored movement, characterization, and dramatic effects. This early passion evolved into a love for fantasy—dragons, dwarfs, elves, and magical realms—as well as sci-fi elements like monsters, aliens, and robots. My interest in art with an emotional impact led me to tattooing, a medium that allows for a dynamic and expressive form of art.
About Travis Luckhurst
I was a tattoo artist for over 22 years and owned my own studio in San Diego called Axiom Tattoo from 2018-2024. I sold the business to an amazing couple named Alex and Xander who will continue the inclusive legacy of Axiom Tattoo. I transition into painting and illustrating which have always been my true loves. I pour my emotions into every piece, striving to tell a story with each image. Growing up poor and living with my father being a drug addict taught me resilience and determination. He went to jail and was able to overcome his addiction later in his life. I put all of those past challenges and joyful moments such as being a father and husband into my artwork. Through my art, I aim to create pieces that resonate emotionally with viewers, evoking joy, a sense of wonder, and perhaps even a touch of laughter.
